Teamwork — Spring Team Building

With spring comes many opportunities to bring people together, and that also means more opportunities to recruit people to your team! These are also great reasons to gather your current team members for group fundraising and team building. A group walk or run is a natural — take your team for a stroll or sprint to view the budding flowers and leaves. Ask each team member to bring a friend, and it’s likely they’ll have so much fun they’ll want to join you on the spot! You can also bring the team and their families and friends together for a spring flowers planting, a great activity to focus everyone on one accomplishment — teambuilding! And, if your flowers are ready before the event, you can all wear one to show your togetherness!

Recruit team members from among your office buddies by encouraging them to get out for a walk with you during lunchtime — or even for a moving outdoor meeting (simultaneous walking and talking can spur creativity)! Everyone will be more refreshed when back in the office, and since they’re walking anyway, they might as well join the team! Remember you’ll need at least 15 people to make it an official team, but the more the merrier!

Important Team Deadlines: All teams must be activated by Friday, April 9th and must have at least 15 members by Friday, April 16th at 5:00PM. For more team information, visit our team page or call the Teams Department at (212) 379-3199.

She’s Got Womentum

Womentum: an inspirational force gained over a distance of 5K applied to the eradication of cancers in women. Each and every participant in the EIF REVLON Run/Walk is a living, breathing, walking and running example of Womentum, and each one has a story.

Dana F. Hogan-Brown uses her Womentum to battle the disease that took her beloved mother:

photo

“After having lost my mom — a beautiful mom — to this dreadful disease in the year 2000, my sister and I and our dedicated teammates comprising "Sisters For LIFE" have marched proudly in the EIF REVLON Run/Walk For Women in New York.  We watched for years as mom battled cancer progressively in her ovaries, colon, liver, lymph nodes, and

ultimately her brain.  Immediately upon receipt of her initial diagnosis she put on her ARMOR and ATTACKED it head-on for her family, and for herself.  Mom was committed to living life to the fullest extent she could, and during that time won many small battles against what we've dubbed the "C-demon."  Finally, cancer moved to her brain, she conceded to her enemy and left this world.  We miss our mom's warmth, beauty and compassion tremendously.  So-much-so that we faithfully march in mom's warrior-line manner fighting this disease head-on so that NO ONE has to lose their mom, sister, aunt, friend, and so on.”

Share your story of Womentum by sending it with a photo to info@revlonrunwalk.com
(Remember: men can have Womentum too!)

How You’re Helping

The funds raised by walkers and runners in the EIF REVLON Run/Walk For Women are spread far and wide, benefitting national and New York area organizations engaged in research and supporting cancer patients and their families. For a complete listing, visit our beneficiary page. This week’s featured beneficiary is the Albert Einstein Cancer Center.

The Psychosocial Oncology Program of the Montefiore-Einstein Cancer Center is one of the primary organizations to offer free counseling, education, and mind-body therapies to cancer patients and caregivers in the Bronx.  Through EIF REVLON Run/Walk support, the “Bronx Oncology Living Daily” Outreach Program will focus efforts on reaching out to the most underserved and socially isolated cancer patients in the Bronx with accessible and portable psychosocial support and care to meet their needs.
